Disabling Protocols

After your network configuration is complete, you may want to disable protocols that you are not using to avoid unnecessary network traffic. There are four ways to disable protocols:

Use the printer's front panel.
Send the appropriate PostScript utility file to the printer.
If you are running NetWare use the PhaserShare Administrator Software for NetWare Networks.
With a TCP/IP connection and a World Wide Web browser, you can use PhaserLink Software: Your Printer's Information Link.

The procedures given here for disabling protocols only apply to EtherTalk and TokenTalk installations (using a PhaserShare Ethernet or Token Ring card). The PhaserShare LocalTalk/serial card does not support the protocols discussed here, so they cannot be enabled or disabled.

You can enable protocols by the same procedures; just select the command to enable a protocol rather than disable it.
