Parallel Configuration for HP®-UX 9.x and 10.x

HP-UX 9.x
The following procedure describes how to use the HP System Administrator Manager program (SAM) to configure a workstation running HP-UX 9.x to support a color PostScript printer.
- Log in as root on your workstation.
- From the command line, type sam.
- Highlight Printers and Plotters from the menu, then press Return or click Open.
- Highlight Printers/Plotters from the menu, then press Return or click Open.
- Click on Actions and select Add Local Printer/Plotter, then select Add Parallel Printer/Plotter.
- For Available Parallel Cards, select Built-in Parallel Interface, or select the appropriate parallel card.
For Printer Name, enter the queue name (this can be anything).
Click on the Printer Model/Interface button, select postscript from the list, then press Return or click OK. The next field, Printer Device File Name, is automatically filled in.
Enter information for Printer Class if necessary.
- Click OK to process the information.
- To exit SAM, click on File and select Exit.
HP-UX 10.x
The following procedure describes how to use the HP System Administrator Manager program (SAM) to configure a workstation running HP-UX 10.x to support a color PostScript printer.
- Log in as root on your workstation.
- From the command line, type sam.
- Double click the Printers/Plotters icon.
- Again, double click the Printers/Plotters icon.
- Click on Actions and select Add Local Printer/Plotter, then Add Parallel Printer/Plotter.
- For Available Parallel Cards, select Built-in Parallel Interface, or select the appropriate parallel card.
For Printer Name, enter the queue name (this can be anything).
Click on the Printer Model/Interface button, select postscript from the list, then press Return or click OK. The next field, Printer Device File Name, is automatically filled in.
Enter information for Printer Class if necessary.
- Click OK to process the information.
- To exit SAM, click on File and select Exit.
