Network utilities diskettes

The PhaserShare LocalTalk/Serial card comes with a single Macintosh diskette. The PhaserShare Ethernet and Token Ring cards come with all of the diskettes listed here:

For LocalTalk, EtherTalk, and TokenTalk networks, use the software on the Macintosh version of the printer's network utilities diskettes.
For NetWare and non-UNIX TCP/IP networks, use the software on the PC version of the printer's network utilities diskettes for installation and printer configuration.

Note: For TCP/IP networks without UNIX hosts, use the file IPCONFIG.PS on the PC version of the network utilities diskettes to configure the printer's IP parameters.
For UNIX TCP/IP networks, use the files contained in the tar archive file unix.tar, which is on the PC version of the printer's network utilities diskettes. These files include UNIX shell scripts that create PostScript files for TCP/IP configuration. The PostScript utility files on the PC version of the printer's network utilities diskettes can also be used for network configuration in UNIX TCP/IP environments.

The file unix.tar can be read by any UNIX workstation that can read tar format. If your UNIX workstation cannot read tar format, you can download the files from the Tektronix Color Printer Information Server. Downloading files from the Tektronix FTP server provides instructions.

Your printer's software CD-ROM

Some Tektronix printers are shipped with a software CD-ROM. This CD-ROM contains utility files for printer configuration, printer drivers, on-line manuals, and other software for use with your printer. The CD-ROM also includes the same files as the printer's network utilities diskettes. You may obtain the network utilities software from the CD-ROM instead of the network utilities diskettes if this is easier for you. Refer to your printer's user documentation for more information on installing files from the CD-ROM.

PhaserShare Administrator and Status Monitor diskettes

PhaserShare Ethernet and Token Ring cards are shipped with the PhaserShare Administrator and the PhaserShare Status Monitor, two Windows applications that assist you in using and managing your Tektronix Color printer over a NetWare network. The PhaserShare Administrator provides network administrators with printer management capability, job accounting information, and configuration information. The PhaserShare Status Monitor provides end users with on-line, real-time feedback on printer status.
