Parallel Port Settings

Parallel Port
Allows you to enable and disable the interface.

Page Description Language
Select the language you want the printer to receive on the Parallel port. If you select AutoSelect, the printer automatically senses the language of the print job and processes it accordingly.

Encoding
Select Normal, Raw, Binary, or TBCP.  If you change the settings here, you may need to also change the settings in the printer driver, as the settings must be the same in both the printer and the printer driver.

Job Pipelining

  • On: The printer can begin processing a new job on this port while it is still printing a previous job.
  • Off: The printer does not begin a new job on this port until the current job is completed.

USB Port Settings

USB Port
Allows you to enable and disable the interface.

Page Description Language
Select the language you want the printer to receive on the USB port. If you select AutoSelect, the printer automatically senses the language of the print job and processes it accordingly.

Encoding

Job Pipelining

  • On: The printer can begin processing a new job on this port while it is still printing a previous job.
  • Off: The printer does not begin a new job on this port until the current job is completed. This is the recommended setting to avoid errors in the job accounting log.

PhaserShare Token Ring Card Settings

Card Type
Reports what type of PhaserShare Token Ring card is installed in the printer.

Token Ring Address
Specifies the printer's Token Ring address (by default, this is a bit-swapped version of the printer's Printer ID, and it is a unique address on the network). You can supply a Locally Administered Address.

For Locally Administered Addresses, you can enter any valid Token Ring address between 4x:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx and 7x:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx. Entering an empty string resets the address to the printer's default address.

Speed
Reports the Token Ring speed set by the jumper on the Token Ring card installed in the printer. The speed is either 4 Mbps or 16 Mbps.

Early Token Release
Turns the IBM-compatible Early Token Release feature on or off. This field is displayed only when Speed is set to 16 Mbps.

Frame Routing

  • Source Route: Use source routing.
  • Transparent: No source routing.

Broadcast Frame Explorer Type
Used when broadcasting to all network nodes.

  • Single Route: The printer uses single route broadcasts for most source route broadcasts.
  • All Routes: The printer uses all routes broadcasts for all broadcasts.

Broadcast Frame Explorer Type is ignored if Frame Routing is set to Transparent.

This field is displayed only when Frame Routing is set to Source Route.

Unknown Route Explorer Type
Used when the printer is searching for a route to a specific network node. These choices control the default frame type for source route broadcasts.

  • Single Route: The printer uses single route broadcasts for most source route broadcasts.
  • All Routes: The printer uses all routes broadcasts for all broadcasts.

This field is displayed only when Frame Routing is set to Source Route.

Route Cache Size
Specifies the number of entries in the source route table. Enter a value between 10 to 300. This field is displayed only when Frame Routing is set to Source Route.

Route Cache Timeout
Specifies the time in seconds that an entry remains in the source route table before being updated. Enter a value between 5 and 65535.
This field is displayed only when Frame Routing is set to Source Route.

  • Automatic (default setting)
  • 100 Mbps (Full Duplex)
  • 100 Mbps (Half Duplex)
  • 10 Mbps (Full Duplex)
  • 10 Mbps (Half Duplex)

Actual Speed
Actual speed of Ethernet communication.
