NetWare Settings Help
Xerox provides tools for NetWare printer and queue management that are more automated and comprehensive than CentreWare IS. You can obtain information on these tools from the Xerox web site. You can use this page to configure the printer for operation on NetWare networks.

NetWare
Allows you to enable and disable the protocol.

Status Message
Displays current NetWare printer status.

Connection Mode
Select Directory Services, Bindery, or Bindery and Directory Services.

Print Server Name
Contains the current name for the print server. To change the name, enter a valid NetWare print server name. The new name takes effect the next time the print server or printer is reset.  The Print Server Name must be 63 characters or less. The combination of Print Server Name and DS Context must be 510 characters or less.

Queue Scan Interval
Use this field to change the interval at which the printer polls for jobs. The value entered must be between 1 and 3600 seconds. The default is 15 seconds.

Banners

  • On: Banner pages may be printed with each job.
  • Off: Banner pages will not print.

Banner pages will be printed if banners are set to "on" at the file server, even if banners are set to "off" in the printer.

Page Description Language
Select the language you want the printer to receive on the print server port. If you choose AutoSelect, the printer automatically senses the language of the print job and processes it accordingly.

Filtering
Allows you to choose whether the printer filters out control characters. In most cases, Filtering should be set to None.

Job Pipelining

  • On: The printer can begin processing a new job on this port while it is still printing a previous job.
  • Off: The printer does not begin a new job on this port until the current job is completed.

NDS Tree
Contains the NetWare Directory Services Tree that the printer looks for when connecting to file servers on the network. The DS Tree must be entered into this field if the printer is in NDS mode. The maximum length is 47 characters.  This field is available only when Directory Services is selected, and is not displayed if Connection Mode is set to Bindery.

NDS Context
Contains the NetWare Directory Services Context that the printer looks into when connecting to file servers on the network. The combination of Print Server Name and DS Context must be 510 characters or less. This field is available only when Directory Services or both is selected, and is not displayed if Connection Mode is set to Bindery.

File Server
Use the field to specify a file server to log in to. The maximum length for the name is 30 characters. This field is available only when Bindery Services or both is selected.

Login Password
Use the field to specify a password to be used when logging in to the file server. The maximum length for the password is 47 characters.

Frame Types

You can enable any and all frame types, but at least one must be enabled. The Network Number field reports the last power-up value of the Network Number bound to that frame type. If a frame type is disabled at power-up, the Network Number is displayed as Not Bound.
