Printer Search Scope Help
The
Printer Search Scope page allows you to update or modify settings that control how the printer searches the network, what subnets the search accesses, and how much impact to the network you wish to permit when searches are conducted.
Note: The default page that loads when you click the
Preferences tab is the
Printer Search Scope page.
Search Type Setting
From the
Search Type Setting section, select a
Search Type. If you select
Quick Phaser Search, the printer search will only locate and display Xerox Phaser printers on the network. If you click
Search for
All Printers, the search will display all printer types that it finds on the network.
Auto Search on Reboot
Click the
Auto Search on Reboot checkbox to direct the printer to perform an automatic printer search whenever the printer reboots. If the checkbox is blank, the printer will not perform a printer search upon reboot. By default this checkbox is blank.
Note: The
Auto Search on Reboot checkbox displays on this page on non-extended printer configurations only. On extended printer configurations, this checkbox displays on the
Printer Search Schedule page.
IP Address /
Subnet Settings
IP Address/Subnet Settings display on extended printer configurations only. Expand or contract the subnet search parameters by adding or deleting subnets using the
Add Subnet or
Delete Subnet(s) buttons on this page. Each of these buttons displays its own dialog with instructions to help you add or delete subnets for printer search.
Note: You must confirm the add or delete action from both the
Add Subnet or
Delete Subnet(s) pages in order for those actions to be performed. You will receive a confirmation message if the delete action is successful. If you entered a new subnet and clicked
Add, the new subnet displays on the
Printer Search Scope page. If you close the window without confirming the actions, they will not be performed.
Network Impact /
Search Performance
Performing printer searches can impact network performance. You can select how the search affects your network by moving the slider between
Least Network Impact, when you want the search to run, but have other network processes that cannot be impacted, or by clicking
Most Network Impact, when the search is very important.
Note: Access to the
Preferences tab functions is controlled by the Administrator. You may require a user name and password to access these functions. Refer to the
Administrator Security Settings
page in
CentreWare IS.
