NetWare Settings Help
NetWare is a software product that runs on a variety of
LANs which provides users and programmers with a consistent interface independent of the actual hardware used to transmit messages.
NetWare - Allows you to enable and disable the protocol.
NetWare is set to
On as the default.
Status Message - This field displays the current
NetWare printer status.
Connection Mode - Select
Directory Services or
Bindery. The default value for this field is
Directory Services.
Print Server Name - This field contains the current
Print Server Name. To change the name, enter a valid
NetWare print server name. The new name takes effect the next time the print server or printer is reset. The
Print Server Name must be
47 characters or less. The combination of
Print Server Name and
NDS Context must be
510 characters or less.
Queue Scan Interval - Use this field to change the interval at which the printer polls for jobs. The value entered must be between
1 and
3600 seconds. The default value is
15 seconds.
Banners
-
On - Banner pages print with each job.
-
Off - Banner pages will not print.
Banner pages print if banners are set to
On at the file server, even if banners are set to
Off in the printer.
Page Description Language - Select the language you want the printer to receive on the print server port. If you choose
AutoSelect, the printer automatically detects the language of the print job and processes it accordingly.
Filtering - This field allows you to select whether or not the printer strips out control characters. Options are
InterpreterBased or
None. In most cases,
Filtering should be set to
None.
Job Pipelining - Pipelining allows the printer to begin processing a new print job while it is still printing the current job, which increases printer throughput so jobs print faster.

On - The printer begins processing a new job on this port while it is still printing a previous job.
-
Off - The printer cannot begin a new job on this port until the current job is completed.
NDS Tree - This field contains the
NetWare Directory Services Tree that the printer looks for when connecting to file servers on the network. The
NDS Tree must be entered into this field if the printer is in
NDS mode. The maximum length is
47 characters. This parameter field does not display if
Connection Mode is set to
Bindery.
NDS Context - This field contains the
NetWare Directory Services Context that the printer looks into when connecting to file servers on the network. The combination of
Print Server Name and
NDS Context must be
255 characters or less. This field is available only when
Directory Services is selected, and is not displayed if
Connection Mode is set to
Bindery.
File Server - The
File Server text field contains the name of the file server to a maximum of
47 characters. If
Connection Mode is set to
Directory Services above, this field does not display.
Login Password - Use the field to specify a password to use when logging in to the file server. The maximum length for the password is
47 characters.
Frame Types
You can enable any and all frame types, but at least one must be enabled. The
Network Number field reports the last power-up value of the
Network Number bound to that frame type. If a
Frame Type is disabled at power-up, the
Network Number is displays as
Not Bound.
IPX Frame Type - Select the desired
IPX Frame Type from the drop down box. Allowed values include
Ethernet 802.2,
Ethernet 802.3,
Ethernet II,
Ethernet SNAP, and
Adaptive. The default value is
Adaptive.
IPX Current Frame Type - Displays the
IPX Frame Type that is currently selected in the printer.
Network Number - The last value of the network number bound to the
IPX Current Frame Type shows here.
